How far can political correctness go?  Consider the department store in England which was told that it would not be allowed to advertise for a man to be Father Christmas in their store. To advertise for a single sex meant justifying in writing the reasons for such blatant prejudice. The owner, Bruce Robinson complied with the directive. He wrote:

"The person, if female, should, therefore, have a) a deep voice; b) whiskers; c) a big belly; and d) no readily discernible bosom.

"My only concern is that if our choice is limited to such a candidate, I fear for our children, who will doubtless be terrified."

If we want to make sound decisions about our health and healthcare,
we  need information. There are claims that the American public is being denied access to certain credible data about benefits of vitamins and  minerals.

A bill was introduced into the U.S. House of
Representatives  on November 9, 2005, that would prevent the U.S. Food and Drug  Association (FDA) from censoring truthful claims about the healing or  preventive effects of dietary supplements. HR 4282, the Health
Freedom  Protection Act, would stop the FDA from prohibiting the distribution
of  scientific articles and publications to consumers regarding the role
of  nutrients in protecting against disease. It would also prevent the  Federal Trade Commission (FTC) from censoring truthful health claims
by  requiring supplement manufactures to satisfy an unobtainable standard  of proof that a health claim statement is true.
 
New bills go first to the appropriate House committee, which considers  whether the bill should be presented to the House as a whole, and in  what form. Most bills never make it out of committee. HR 4282 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Those against HR 4282 appear to be ignoring it. Supporters of HR 4282 will need to  influence the members of this committee to allow it to move out of  committee and proceed to the House floor for consideration.
